In preparation for this year's Bean Pole Day event at Caversham Court on Saturday, 26th April, volunteers from CROW have been busy cutting bean poles.
It's not just a matter of cutting, there's also snedding - trimming to remove any small side branches.
Then quality control takes over ensuring each pole is of the correct diameter and length before .....
..... bundling. Eleven poles to a bundle (five for each side of the bean row plus one along the top), each pole eight feet in length.
Just in case anyone is intending to grow an extra tall bean, an extra tall pole!
Loaded and ready to go .....
..... safely stored ready for the big day.
Final job - displaying the banner at Caversham Court. Just checking to make sure it's absolutely straight!
Great! We're all ready for the big day.
