In the spring of 2011, Econet obtained one hundred trees for the Cowsey with the intention of increasing the variety to be found on the site. Some of the trees were planted by CROW volunteers with help from BTCV on the 28th February - a wet and rather miserable Monday - and the remainder by BTCV on Saturday, 12th March as part of a RESCUE event.
These photo's of some of the trees planted by CROW where taken by Keith Alexandar in November 2011 (with grass-hook included for size comparison). CROW's trees seem to have done the best with about half surviving probably because they where situated in some of the wetter locations. The trees planted by BTCV where mainly located on the drier slopes and have fared less well, not helped by the installation of a new bench or the Council's mowing regime.
