In April 2007, CROW planted a new willow bed in the Market Garden at Englefield.
Unrooted cuttings about 30cm in length, where pushed into the soil which had been covered with black polythene to suppress weeds and retain moisture.
September 2007, five months later, and the willow is about two metres in height and well on the way to becoming an established bed, no doubt helped by the wet summer.
