As a change from the usual bracken cutting we find ourselves doing at this time of year at Padworth, we started today's task by clearing a path from the car park. Unfortunately we're just to good at this sort of thing, so by lunchtime the path was clear and we found ourselves heading off to the other side of the Common to pull bracken.
By mid afternoon, as we joyfully attacked the bracken, the skies darkened, the lightening flashed, the thunder rumbled and the rain poured down, and we dived for cover as many as could following Reggie into the back of Sarah's van. After which it was decided we'd had sufficient fun for one day and we departed for home.
(Don't be mislead, clearing bracken to reveal areas of heather just coming into bloom is very satisfying.)
